FMB MIXTAPE 278 | MIGGS
MIGGS

Raised in the North, based in London, traversing effortlessly through Electro, House, Techno and beyond, creating an unmatched energy where ever she plays, Miggs draws inspiration not only from UK rave culture but from sounds across the globe, combining her love for wiggy electronic soundscapes with progressive rolling breakbeats. Whether she’s getting intimate with moody, wobbly basslines or turning up the heat with high energy, percussive rhythms, you’re in for an exploration of sound and emotion with carefully selected tracks she’s spent hours digging for. Miggs is this weeks guest on the FMB Mixtape.

Let’s catch up…

Recently, I’ve been trying to explore music more outside of a club setting, whether that’s through production in the studio, listening to local radio stations, going record shopping or watching documentaries / reading about music culture and history. It’s felt like a nice breath of fresh air – but it’s also made me even more ready to get back in the club now that the winter blues are out the way.

The mix was recorded in my room on a Sunday night at 10pm (sorry flatmates). I recorded the mix in one take which is crazy for me as I am a bit of a perfectionist, but I wanted to really connect with the tracks and feel the flow of the energy throughout the mix which is something that can’t really be replicated on another take.

Recently I’ve fallen in love with a niche corner of Electro that makes me feel really uneasy. Some of the tracks in this mix absolutely terrify me, but in way that gives me a big rush of adrenaline and excitement. The mix is a journey through these feelings: unsettling, uneasy, scary at times, but in a way that makes you want to be stood in a field with your mates next to a big sound system feeling a chill down your spine.

Up next…

Next up for me is actually the start of festival season with a set at Queens Yard Summer Party meaning that summer is finally on the horizon! But even though I may be feeling happier and brighter, you can still always expect that dark, moody squelchy energy to my sets.
