SUPREEMS
Hailing from Antwerp, Supreems has made a unique impression since he first appeared on the scene with his debut EP “Us Together”. The record quickly allowed him to play gigs all over Europe, with a four hour set at Berghain Panorama Bar as the icing on the cake.
Picking up support from renowned electronic artists such as Four Tet, Ross From Friends, Solomun and Bicep, just to name a few, his releases have turned heads and generated very real excitement for his next moves. Supreems’ production style is emotive first and foremost, while his DJ sets and mixtapes display a wide range of sounds and influences, all connected to coherent and emotionally reverberating hours of music.
Supreems just released his debut album, Nachtschone. His most personal and complete body of work to date. Released on his newly found label Sweet Sun, it gained massive support early on. From Mixmag naming the title track one of the best tracks of the year so far, to Beatport naming Supreems as one of the most exciting emerging artists on their radar. Not to mention Bicep has been teasing the crowd with plays of tracks of the album for a while. Time to go have a listen.
Let’s catch up…
I’m gonna be very honest, I’ve had a rough couple of years mentally. My last gig and release were in 2023. It was around this time that I started experiencing anxiety and signs of depression, and for a long time I didn’t know how to deal with this. It really had an impact on me making music, and I started to look at deejaying as something super scary. I checked myself into the hospital this year and I went through intensive therapy for a couple of months. I’m very glad to say that this has helped me tremendously and I finally returned home this week. There’s a stigma in this world that men can’t talk, so I kept this struggle to myself for a long time. But opening up about it and searching help was the best thing I could’ve done. I’m finally back in the studio now and extremely excited to finish all the demo’s that have been sitting on my computer for the past years. After posting some teasers on my Instagram, I’ve been contacted by some pretty sick labels. So you can expect new music coming soon. I also would like to add that if anyone is struggling with anxiety, I’m always up for a chat and ready to help by explaining what got me through this. You’re not alone!
This mix is a recording of one of my favourite gigs ever, recorded live at Wire Club, Leeds. This set is one of my favourites, played for one of the best crowds I’ve ever had. I felt like I could play anything. This set is a mix of bass, breaks, grime, trance, electro, … Everything I love. Expect a two hour journey with no rules, taking you from pure euphoria to down right club bangers.
Up next…
After my hospitalisation I’m finally back in the studio, finishing lots of tracks that I’m really excited about. Not picking up deejaying just yet, but very happy to be producing again and also very grateful to be where I am right now. Studio time feels very healing to me, and I think this is also reflected in my upcoming productions.
