DOVE

DOVE is an alias that can be a place where we can put more singular ideas down, less focused on complete songs and more on experimental concepts we work on in the studio.

For example, this first release was about restricting ourselves to human voices and acid to make the majority of sounds. Long-term we would like Dove to lean into the sounds we grew up with, with a rave-leaning aesthetic, but at this stage we’re just excited to start growing it and see where it goes.

CHROMA

CHROMA is Bicep’s multi-faceted project encompassing a record label, a series of landmark live events, and a constantly evolving hybrid AV/DJ show. Representing a significant evolution for the duo, CHROMA also features a unique visual identity created in collaboration with designer David Rudnick and his Terrain studio. Built around the ethos of covering everything “from Acid to Alkaline,” the project serves as a home for Bicep’s most adventurous output spanning euphoric 90s-inspired riffs, heavy club cuts, ambient experiments, and collaborations under their B.D.B and DOVE aliases. The label was designed to evolve and draw on inspiration constantly, both musically and aesthetically pushing their sounds into territory that challenges listeners more than ever before. The project concluded with CHROMA 000, a limited edition vinyl compiling the full run of releases, pressed on 140g black vinyl with bespoke hyper-colour printed sleeves.

TAKKUUK premiered on the giant floor to ceiling wrap around screens at Outernet London, one of the UKs most visited cultural attractions. It can be seen at various events and institutions around the world. Sign up for info and tickets.

Created in partnership with the charity In Place of War, as part of their EarthSonic programme, the installation sees the renowned Northern Irish electronic duo — otherwise known as Andy Ferguson and Matthew McBriar — collaborating with a number of Indigenous vocalists, including Katarina Barruk, Andachan, Sebastian Enequist (from Sound of the Damned), Tarrak, Nuija, Niilas and Silla. The music was recorded in 2024 by Detroit-based producer and musician Matthew Dear in Árni Árnason from The Vaccines studio, during Iceland Airwaves festival in Reykjavík.

Bicep are proud ambassadors for Youth Music, a national charity investing in young people’s lives through music, supporting grassroots organisations and breaking down barriers to access in the creative industries.

In 2023, Bicep were invited by the charity In Place of War, through their EarthSonic programme, to visit the Arctic Sounds Festival in Greenland. That experience became the foundation for Takkuuk – an immersive audio-visual installation created in collaboration with partners Zak Norman and Charlie Miller.

Takkuuk explores the lives, cultures, and challenges facing indigenous artists in the Arctic region, with a specially composed soundtrack produced by Bicep in collaboration with seven artists indigenous to the region. 50% of all royalties from Takkuuk will go directly to the indigenous artists featured, and the remaining 50% will be donated to In Place of War.

Bicep are also signatories of EarthPercent, the charity founded by Brian Eno to help the music industry take meaningful action in the fight against climate change by funding impactful climate solutions.
