London-based DJ, radio host and Human Endeavour Records label founder Rosie Ama operates on the outer fringes of dance music, slinging her sleazy cocktail of low-slung chuggers, left field acid house and synth-driven grooves in basements, bars, fields and clubs across the UK and beyond.
Summer has been busy so far, lots of fun though. Had a few trips out to Tisno, popped my Waking Life cherry, took my family to Watching Trees festival, and been working on some great projects in my day job. Tired but fulfilled!
I recorded the mix at home on a pair of CDJs and a DJM mixer whilst eating my dinner. Every time I do a mix I promise myself I’ll be way more prepped than last time, but it never actually happens so I winged this a bit. I think the pressure usually works in my favour to be honest.
It’s been a year since I started DJing solo, after spending nine years in my duo Kiara Scuro, and I feel like I’ve found my groove and my sound now. This is a very small snapshot of that, focusing on the clubbier end of what you’d hear me play out. There’s some incredible unreleased tracks in there that a few friends kindly sent over for this mix – special shouts to Zillas On Acid, Ivan Smagghe & Medicine 8.
I’m still feeling very much in festival mode, but I have a London gig this weekend opening up the Courtyard at The Cause for Cooking With Palms Trax. After that, some fun festival slots on the horizon; Field Maneuvers B2B with my pals Sarahtonin, Sofie K and Nadia Ksaiba; a return to Eternal Sun in Crete; and my first time playing Convenanza in the south of France, which is an absolute dream gig for me.
I’ve also got a new release on my label from a very talented friend that I can’t wait to share with the world, and the announcement for my next Pleasure Unit party I run with my friend Harry James. Lots of exciting things to come!
